Wolverhampton, UKI thought the shopping cart would exclude international orders but Nicola of Wolverhampton, UK, did place an order, even if the shipping charge turned out to be, let’s say, optimistic. After we determined what the cheapest shipping would be and sent it off, I had to inquire how it went. After all, there’s people everywhere that have been sent or given our Sponge Candy in the past and now they are finding us on-line. Nicola reports:

The upshot of this is we will in all likelihood send you Sponge Candy no matter where you are but we will have to deal with shipping costs on an individual basis. To give an example: four pounds of candy packaged to ship weighed 6 pounds and cost right at $47 to ship via US Postal Service Global Express. It took exactly a week including clearing customs. No duty was charged (normally payable by the receiver) in this case, but YMMV (your mileage may vary).

Paying $11.75 per pound for shipping Sponge Candy may sound a tad steep to us here in Buffalo but we take a few things for granted:

  • We can get Sponge Candy every direction we turn but in reality, it is a regional food that is quite exotic almost everywhere else.
  • Our chocolates are high quality/low price. Don’t believe $15.50 per pound is low? Well, $30 - $90 per pound is quite routine in major cities and it tops out at $2600 per pound! (scroll down to chart).
